About

Hi, and thanks for stopping by.  So, since this is my site I thought I should tell you a little bit about who I am: I’m a musician, writer, and business owner living and working in North Carolina.  I’ve been told that I’m way more than “slightly” off-kilter, I live inside my head most days, I’m always dreaming of a better way of doing things, I’m ADD, I’m a reformed cynic, and similar to most guys I know, I consider drinking beer and watching sports a pretty good day.  I’m also really good at Skee-Ball.

But as self-indulgent as a website with your own name may be (and it is), believe it or not, this endeavor isn’t about me.  This is about us.  This website was established to be a portal into my ideas, my dreams, and my hopes for a better future.  But it’s a future that includes you.

For as long as I can remember I’ve been extremely passionate about the Arts, about helping creative people make a better living for themselves, and about impacting the communities and minds around us. I’ve seen the best minds of my generation, flounder, get discouraged, throw in the towel, get “real jobs,” and believe that this life is just way too hard.  And I’m sick of it.  We don’t have to live this way anymore.  The world is changing.  We can do better.  It’s time we caught up.

It’s my hope that this website will be a place, not only for me to spread my ideas for a better Creative Community, but for you to participate as well.  I want to hear from you.  I want to talk to you.  I want us to band together and demand more from ourselves and each other.  The world needs you and so do I.  Now is the time we make a difference in the lives of the people we care about by coming together, raising our collective voices, admonishing our fears and anxiety, and moving forward.  I’ll be right here waiting.

In the meantime, check out the site.  Peruse the posts, read the comments, question, speak up, look around.  Fill out the Contact Form, or if you’d prefer, you can drop me a line personally [adrian /at/ adrianvarnam /dot/ com].  Or hell, just ignore me.  Trust me, it won’t be the first time that’s happened.

But please, whatever you do, never, ever, settle.  And don’t wait until tomorrow.  We can make this life a better one for all creative people if we just speak up, do our best, and give it all we’ve got.  I truly believe it.  Join me.  The Revolution Starts Now. Are you with me?

A note about the photography: Unless otherwise cited (and with the exception of the handsome avatar image posted above), most of the photography on this site has been generously donated by my friend Scott James.  Philosopher, educator, photographer, dad-to-be, Scott’s imagery and artwork is an inspiration.  Please visit his homepage and tell him how much you appreciate his work and encourage him to continue sharing it with the world.
